Who I work with

Uribe Music Therapy I offer neurologic music therapy sessions for adults and older adults navigating a range of neuro-cognitive and aging-related conditions, in the Portland, Oregon metro area. My goal is to support your movement, communication, memory, and overall well-being through music.

My clients

  1. Older adults living with Parkinson’s disease — helping improve walking, balance, speech and confidence through rhythm-based music therapy.

  2. Older adults with Alzheimer’s and related dementias — using familiar melodies and structured interventions to support memory, engagement and quality of life.

  3. Senior living groups seeking healthy-aging resources — group music therapy sessions designed for mobility, cognition, social connection and joy.

  4. Adults in rehabilitation or recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) or stroke — evidence-based music interventions to enhance motor recovery, speech and cognitive function.

  5. Adults with developmental disabilities — personalized music therapy that fosters self-expression, communication and meaningful engagement.

  6. Palliative and hospice care clients — compassionate music therapy for pain management, comfort, connection and emotional support in end-of-life settings.

  7. Spanish-speaking individuals of all ages (Individuos de habla hispana, de todas las edades) — music therapy delivered in Spanish, tailored to your language, culture and goals.

How it works

This 12-week program is designed to guide participants through different musical experiences to target functional skills such as movement and cognition in a fun and engaging way.

The therapist uses the group’s preferred music and personalized goals to develop exercises to support health. By the end of this program participants will have actionable skills to continue using in their day-to-day.

Sessions take place weekly for 60 minutes.

Participants can expect to move to music, write songs, play instruments, sing, and more.

You do not need to have musical experience to participate and get the full benefits of music therapy!

One of the biggest challenges the senior community faces is isolation. Lack of social connection can lead to increase risk of hospitalization, depression, decline in mental health and poor quality of life.

The NMT for Healthy Aging Program was born out of the growing need for enrichment spaces for seniors, that targets skills to maintain independence. This program is designed to target maintenance of functional skills, as well as provide a space for social connection, emotional expression, and enjoyment through music!
